Beerless Batter For Fish or Veggies
BEERLESS BATTER FOR FISH
Good for veggies as well
Ingredients
3/4c flour 1/4tsp baking soda
2TBSP cornstarch 1/2tsp spanish paprika
1/2TBSP baking powder 1/4tsp black pepper
1/4tsp onion powder 1/4tsp garlic powder
1/4tsp salt 3/4c water
Olive Oil for frying 1" deep in dutch oven
Heat oil on medium high while putting together ingredients
Mix dry ingredients together
Add water to stir and combine
coat fish fillets completely(this is a thick batter)
test oil--a small drop of batter will do to see if it is hot enough
deep fry fish portions until golden brown(2-3 minutes per side)
**Works well with cod, halibut, other white fish. Cut into portions about 4" long for ease of turning
For Italian seasoning, substitute oregano and basil for paprika, 1/2tsp of each
For Mexican seasoning, substitute chili powder for paprika
